Very happy with choice! I was hesitant because there were no reviews, but it works better than I could have hoped. It works quickly without the chest strap and continuously with the strap. It even works with my Schwinn exercise bike; the reading comes up accurately on the digital screen, same as on the watch. I gave up trying to get a good reading off the bikes handles long ago. It's been about 2 weeks since the Schwinn Elite Combo Heart Rate Monitor arrived. I'm a reasonably active 46 year old male around 5'11" 165lbs and need to monitor my heart rate for health reasons.I chose this make/model because it has the option to get data with no chest strap--handy if you want to check your pulse while on a hike in the park or lunchtime stroll. The good news is that the touch reading is very accurate, however there's a problem getting a reading in the cooler weather (below 40 degrees) especially when you're starting your workout. Sometimes a bit of saliva on the fingertips helps, but the chances of getting a reading are 50/50 until you get a little perspiration going or a more rapid beat.With the chest monitor on, Lifecycle equipment reads the signal strongly and accurately--great when you're in the gym.I'm hanging on to this piece of technology while keeping an eye on market advances in the combo touch/chest strap arena. This is a decent watch made of better than average materials and is intuitive to use.The only negative is that it does not consistently return your measured heart rate, because it is apparantley sensitive to perspiration on the skin. The chest band is made for people with small diameter torsos and is unconfortable to wear.
